The words you actually reach for, whether you write plainly or reach for technical language, and the phrases that recur because they are yours.

Not one setting but a range: how formal you are in each register, and how far you travel between them.
Structural habits
How you open, how you close, how long your paragraphs run, whether you use lists, and your punctuation habits — the semicolons, the dashes.
The things only you do
The tics. A construction you lean on, a word you over-use, something you never do at all. This is usually what makes writing recognisable.

You can also tell it outright: never say “passionate”, never open with “I am writing to apply”. Those are followed on every draft and outrank any generic idea of a good cover letter.
All of that goes into every draft alongside your CV — so it is writing to a description of you, not to a template of what cover letters are supposed to sound like. And it keeps listening: each time you rewrite a draft, that is you writing in your own voice about your own experience, which is better evidence than anything you uploaded on your first day. It reads those too.
